Privacy Policy
This privacy policy explains how Wysiwyg Logistics ("Wysiwyg Logistics", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you visit wysiwyglog.com (the "Website") or contact us about a transport enquiry.
We are a specialised freight and transport operator based at Old Tannery, Hermon Road, Wellington, Cape Winelands, 7655, South Africa. We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA").
Our name stands for "What You See Is What You Get", and we apply that to your information too: we collect only what we need in order to quote and move your cargo, and we do not sell it.
Information you give us
When you contact us by email or telephone to request a quote or make an enquiry, we collect the information you choose to share with us. Typically this includes:
- your name and the name of your business, if applicable;
- your email address and telephone number;
- the collection and delivery addresses for your shipment;
- a contact reference for collection and for delivery; and
- details of the cargo being moved, such as its description, dimensions and weight.
We need this information to prepare a quote, plan the vehicle and route, carry out the transport, and issue documentation such as a waybill. If you choose not to provide it, we may not be able to quote for or carry out your shipment.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Website, our servers and analytics tools automatically record technical information sent by your browser. This may include your IP address, device type, browser type and version, operating system, language preference, the page you visited before ours, the pages you view on our Website, the time spent on those pages, and access times and dates.
We use this information in aggregate to understand how the Website is used, to identify technical problems and potential abuse, and to improve the Website. We do not use it to try to identify you personally.
Cookies and analytics
The Website uses Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google, to measure how visitors find and use the site. Google Analytics sets cookies on your device and collects the kind of technical information described above.
We also record a small number of events in Google Analytics when a visitor clicks a telephone number, clicks an email address, or clicks a "Get Quote" button. These events tell us which contact methods visitors prefer. They record the link that was clicked, not the content of any call or email you go on to make.
You can prevent cookies by changing your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics entirely by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The Website will continue to work normally if you do.
We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not run advertising or remarketing campaigns on this Website.
Third-party services
The following third parties may receive or process information as a result of your use of the Website:
- Google Analytics — website usage measurement, as described above. See Google's privacy policy.
- Google Maps — our contact page embeds a Google map showing our location. Loading that map means Google may receive your IP address and set cookies.
Our Website also links to our pages on Facebook and LinkedIn. Those are separate platforms with their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any website you visit from a link on ours.
How we use your information
We use the personal information we collect to:
- respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote;
- arrange, carry out and document the transport of your cargo;
- keep you updated on your shipment, including providing a freight number and an estimated date of arrival;
- deal with any claim, query or dispute relating to a shipment;
- keep proper business and accounting records; and
- comply with our legal obligations.
We process this information because it is necessary to carry out or conclude a contract with you, because we have a legitimate interest in running and improving our business, because you have consented, or because the law requires it, as the case may be.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for the marketing purposes of others.
We may share it where it is necessary to move your cargo or run our business — for example with a driver or crew handling your shipment, with the person you nominate as the collection or delivery contact, with our insurer or a loss adjuster if a claim arises, and with our accountants, auditors or professional advisers. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.
How long we keep your information
We keep enquiry and shipment records for as long as needed for the purpose they were collected for, and thereafter for as long as the law requires us to retain business, tax and accounting records, or for as long as necessary to deal with a potential claim. When we no longer need your information, we delete or destroy it.
Security
We take reasonable administrative, technical and physical measures to protect personal information in our possession against loss, damage and unauthorised access or disclosure. Please be aware, however, that no transmission of information over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and any transmission is at your own risk.
Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- ask whether we hold personal information about you, and request access to it;
- ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive, out of date, incomplete, misleading or obtained unlawfully;
- object, on reasonable grounds, to our processing of your information;
- withdraw a consent you previously gave, where our processing relies on that consent; and
- lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us by email at admin@wysiwyglog.com. We will respond as soon as reasonably possible. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
